Happy 17th BDay Adam!

Blowing out the cake

The cute couple...Erika & Adam
(He played Happy Birthday on the guitar while we sang Happy Birthday...HA HA!!)

Birthday cake from Wegman's

Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and whipped cream icing....YUM!!

Adam's new belt buckle he got from Erika

The gift bag just somehow reminded me of Adam...LOL!!

Gee thanks, Mom & Dad...tissue paper!

Doggie Dilemma

I'm getting desperate! I have no clue what possessed me to drive around the Lehigh Valley taste testing the doggies at the local hot dog joints....but I did! I judged them on appearance, taste and price. There was a clear winner in my mind. The finalists include:

Pott's Hot Dog
$1.24 for a hot dog with everything

Jimmy's Hot Dog
$0.90 for a hot dog with everything

Yocco's Hot Dog
$1.24 for a hot dog with everything

Like some people have cravings during their pregnancies (some people yearn for hoagies, etc), I seem to be going through a hot dog craving. (And no, I AM NOT PREGNANT!!!) Whatever the reason is, I clearly was able to choose a doggie that won on all three accounts....taste, appearance and price:

JIMMY'S

Lost :(

My computer died on Sunday. Dead. No workie. Crap!

I'm sorta going through withdrawal. Kurt has been kind enough to bring his work laptop home from the office for me so I can at least do the basics in the evenings. You know the important stuff....read my emails, check my Google reader, look at all the blogs I follow, check out Facebook. I haven't attempted to get onto Pogo, my game site. I don't want to push my luck!

Kurt asked me why I was done so early last night using his computer. I told him I didn't want to abuse my privileges!

Tonite, after I took pics from Adam's little birthday suaree, I mentioned that there was nothing I could do with the pics anyway. Didn't my sweet husband tell me it was OK to download them onto his computer so I could put them on my blog!

Adam has a computer geek friend and he has suggested that possibly the operating system has crashed. Fiona said there's a chance the motherboard needs to be replaced. Who knows?!?!? I think the current plan is to have Adam's buddy look at it, to see if he can come up with anything. The next step will probably to get a new laptop.....

I'll keep you posted....maybe....

See anything in this tomato stem? I couldn't resist taking a picture of the tomato when I realized what it looked like!

Didja Know?????

Did you know that Saturday Night Live did a skit this past week about Sarah Palin's husband?

Did you know that the skit involved him having an incestual relationship with his daughters?

No, I'm guessing most didn't hear about it.....

Suppose that same skit had been done involving Barack Obama and his daughters???

Do you think we would have heard about it??? Oh, yeah, I'm sure it would have been all over the news.

Oh, but now wait....they would have never done something like that.

I've never cared for SNL to start with, this just inks the deal. Whether it had been about Palin or Obama. Period.

Happy Birthday Adam!

We just couldn't turn Adam down when he asked for this car.....

(OK, so it's not his car...it's not even Kurt's car...it's Auntie Fifi and Uncle Chris' new toy.....)

Adam doesn't even really fit in the car. You'll note how his head is above where the roof top would go if it were in place!! And when his Auntie Fifi let him drive it (it made a mother very nervous....LOL!!), his feet were so gosh darn big/wide that when he had his foot on the gas pedal, he had to consciously make sure it wasn't also resting on the brake!!!

Bravissimo!

The inside panels on Adam's doors on his VW were falling apart. He MADE new ones! Didn't he do a phenomenal job?!?!?!? (You can enlarge the pics to see them better)

Photo Shoot

Apparently this is what one does when one is bored at college. Any ideas as to who they are imitating? The first one who guesses correctly will win a huge WooHoo from me!! (I'd give you a prize, but I don't have any to give out...LOL!!)

The New Spectacles

I ordered my new glasses on Tuesday and was told it would be seven to ten business days until they came in. I got a phone call today (Friday) that they were in! Woo-hoo! (You can't tell, but they are a deep, deep purple...works well with the gray hair...LOL!!) They are going to take some getting used to, though. My last pair had lined bifocals; these are the progressives. Several years ago, I was on the cusp of needing bifocals (probably didn't need them badly enough) and tried the progressives. I ended up returning them a few weeks after I got them, as I just couldn't get used to them. I just got regular lenses then and was OK for the next couple of years. It became evident a couple of years ago when I could no longer see to do my up close cross stitch that it was time for sure for the bifocals. After having had bad luck with the progressives, I opted for the lined bifocals and adjusted to them quickly and easily. Over the past couple of months, however, it seemed like I needed a third prescription....for that in between distance when working/playing games on the computer. My options to address that issue were either trifocals or progressive lenses. I wasn't too excited about getting trifocals, so opted to try the progressives again. That's what these are. I'm hoping that because I really am in need of three different prescriptions, I'll give this some time and make it work!!
(Now excuse me while I go puke and then take some Tylenol for that splitting headache I have....LOL!! Teasing....for now at least.....)

Found

I found these pics on my camera tonite:

when I was downloading this pic:

(Our wild turkey friends)

I sent Kurt out to take a few pictures of the turkeys, but he apparently felt a few pics of his Austin Healey 3000 that he is restoring were needed!!

THIS....

Is all your fault, Miss Lauren!

First Day, Junior Year

OK, guys, this is about the only time of the year that you get a post at 6:30 in the morning! Today is Adam's first day of school and as has been the tradition, I get up for that first day to take the annual first day of school pic. And he knew it was coming....he said, "Ok, Mom, get your pic out of the way, I gotta go!"

We thought we were gonna have a fight this year about driving, but I believe we came to an amicable agreement. He asked me the other day how often he was going to be allowed to drive to school this year....I had already given it some thought and felt that three days per week was acceptable. I was afraid he was going to want to drive every day, but he was actually ok with my suggestion. He did, however, ask if the two days that he has to take the bus, if he could then go to Erika's (more about that later) after school and I would pick him up on my way home from work. I told him I couldn't promise that.

He's gonna have a rough year, he has AP Economics, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Spanish III and English. We never recommended Alyssa take more than one AP class at a time, so this could be interesting. He can certainly do it, I just hope he applies himself. I'm hoping that Erika is a good influence on him....she's a tenth grader and has AP Calculus (with him actually) and mostly honors classes, as well.

Extras

Alyssa and Sarah re-arranged their room a bit:

Karlyn and the kids came to visit Alyssa on her birthday, then took her out to eat (Thanks, Karlyn, I really appreciated you doing that since we couldn't be there!)

I am not sure, but I believe I am subtly (and hopefully, lovingly) being made fun of in this picture...read closely!

(Alyssa mentioned that the only thing she didn't have in her little 'medical kit' was a thermometer....I took the opportunity to include that with the package I sent her for her bday. She'll be the hit of the floor, I'm sure...they'll be knocking down the door to use that handly little device!)
