Members of her Education Pride (there's 24 in all) and her mentor, Brian, who's a sophomore education major* Alyssa is pretty much settled in at State College. Her classes began yesterday and they have today off for the holiday. She has an English composition class and another one called First Year Seminar, which is required of all freshman.
* Her two classes were in adjacent buildings initially, but she received notice yesterday that the second one has been moved to a different building, which is apparently across campus! She has twenty minutes in between classes.
* It seems that some students are there for reasons other than an education (Beer...). Fortunately, she seems to have made friends that have similar beliefs as hers (Not Beer...).
* Let me just say I don't think Alyssa will be too broken up that she'll have a different roommate when she returns for the fall session.
* Our nephew and his wife live in State College; they are picking her up today and taking her along to the 4th of July picnic they are going to and then she will watch the fireworks at Beaver Stadium from their house. Thanks, Matt and Karlyn!! It makes me feel much better knowing there's a family connection nearby.
* I believe....No, I know she's enjoying her freedom!
