Michele I do believe Jessica is correct on the bird, after reading her post and the link she provided. It does look like the American woodcock. I never heard of it, but then again there are so many birds I probably never heard of too.

I printed out a pic of it today at the office and gave it to the doc I work with, as he says his wife is good at identifying birds. It'll be interesting to see if she comes up with the same thing!

Are my eyes going bad? I don't see anything other then dead grass and weeds.
you have to click on the pic and blow it up...but i must say, that bird has some good camouflage skills!!
It looks like a humming bird to me with that long beak. I just don't know what color they are.
