Notice I didn't say 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.' Adam informed us today he received a detention...well, as of this writing, he informed ME of his detention. He hasn't chosen to tell his father yet. It's been an interesting evening, however. He collected the garbage tonite without being told, he has been very polite to Kurt, he hasn't talked back to him, he's cleaning his room without being told again and again....
He apparently was overheard telling some kid that another kid was something I don't care to write here and a teacher overheard him. That teacher reported him and as a result has been given this two hour after school detention.
As he was telling me about this, he kept saying that he didn't feel the teacher should have reported him. He said he even went up to the kid who he said this bad word about and asked him if he minded that he called him this word. Supposedly the kid said that he didn't care and then proceeded to go up to the teacher and asked him not to report Adam. The teacher said, sorry, it was too late.
I told him that what he said was wrong, he should accept responsibility for what he said and not try to blame it on the teacher that he received this detention.

Now you have me curious about what type of insult was used? Was it something most people would take offense at? Or was it a term that kids use jokingly with each other?
The word he used was "dick" and at Northampton, most kids never take offense at any inappropriate words that are said to them. I would just like to add, that I am a person that knows Adam very well, and he told me what happened and I believe that he is being very responsible with what happened. He is taking responsiblility for what he said and although he doesn't exactly love the teacher for giving him a detention, he is not blaming it on Mr. Martin.
