Here we are again....at the end of summer vacation. I think this summer flew by as quickly as the school year did! It seems like just yesterday that Alyssa was filling my kitchen up with lamps, totes, vacuum cleaners, laundry baskets, etc that came home from school. Some of it never left the kitchen! (Oh well, makes it easy for packing back up...LOL!)
Tomorrow will mark exactly one week til she goes back to State College. I know she's excited to go back, and I'm excited for her....but, gosh, does she have to be almost three hours away!?!?!? (OK, I know I have no room to complain...she could be going to school much further away than that!)
She and her roommate, Sarah, are arriving early in order to participate in a program called "Hall Hauling." This group arrives a few days early, gets some orientation to the program and then assists underclassmen in moving in to their dorms. The DiscipleMakers group they belong to often participates with this annual event. It gives them the opportunity to meet new students and invite them to their weekly meetings. Plus they get a few free meals out of the deal....and best of all....a free t-shirt!

Sarah and Alyssa didn't get their choice of dorms (McElwain) and were quite disappointed. They joined a message board to see if anyone was interested in switching from the dorm they wanted into the dorm they are in (Atherton...the honors dorm...supposedly a 24 hour quiet dorm). Seems as though McElwain is fairly popular. They had one set of girls wanting to move out, but it was a small double room (as opposed to a regular double) and had bunk beds and neither Alyssa nor Sarah were interested in a top bunk!! They have decided to stay right where they were assigned and make the best of it.

Neat idea the Hall hauling thing. Wish they had that when I went to college-Michele look on the bright side you get to communicate with cell, e-mail & oh yeah...blog (of which i still don't have :) I don't even have a digital camera...HA! HA!)
Good luck in school Alyssa, have fun & be safe!
Is it REALLY that time already??
Michele, I can't believe Wilson and Easton schools start in a week, where did the summer go. The older we get the faster the time goes.
