End Of An Era

Today was the last time I'll ever need to take a picture of a child's first day of school. Well....it was sorta his first day of school! And yes, that is Adam underneath all that garb!

Adam has three first days of school this year! He is taking two dual enrollment on line courses through Northampton Community College, one in the fall and one in the spring. This past Monday the 24th was the start of their classes. He was accepted into an Applied Engineering Program taught by a Professor from Lafayette College that is held at Bethlehem Area VoTech (BAVTS). He will receive 3 engineering credits from this class. Today was the first day of this class. Plus then, he still is a senior at Northampton Area School District!! And they start this coming Monday the 31st!

Just to brag a bit, by the time he graduates next June, he will have at least 16 college credits and possibly 25!! He got a 5 in his AP Calculus exam (gives him 4 PSU credits), a 4 in AP Macro economics (3 college credits), a 3 in AP Micro economics (gets him squat...LOL...but....says he didn't study for this one and knows if he studies he'll get a 4 or 5, which would give him 3 credits, so he's considering sitting for the exam again this coming May). He will get 3 engineering credits for this class he's taking at BAVTS, 3 credits for the online speech class (yeah, I don't get it either...how do you take an online speech class?!?!?), and 3 credits for the online English class next spring. And then.....he's taking AP Physics this year (3 credits if he gets a 4 or a 5).....plus possibly AP Stats (if they approve counting the NCC English class for his 12th grade English class, which would then open a spot for him to have room for the AP Stats class). Alyssa was quick to point out that he could be a sophomore before he finishes his freshman year!!

For the time being he has decided he wants to major in nuclear engineering and only has eyes for Penn State. He is fine with attending the Lehigh Valley campus if he's not accepted at University Park ( as opposed to Alyssa, who only had her sights on UP).

You all should be very proud of your grandson and grandchildren. There is so much they can reach for with all this education just waiting in the wings for them to grab onto.

WTG, Adam!
