My Baby Graduated :)

Adam graduated from Northampton Area School District on Friday, June 11, 2010. We are all so proud of him and his accomplishments! He will begin at the Lehigh Valley campus of Penn State this fall majoring in nuclear engineering. Most likely he will only be at this branch campus for the first year, then move onto University Park for the remaining three years. Because he is entering with nearly 15 college credits, he already has a class this fall generally meant for sophomores. They've pretty much indicated that they will not have enough classes for him to remain at the branch campus for the two years.

Lunch Date!

Alyssa and I picked Erika up a couple of Saturdays ago and went to Paolo's for lunch. We had a nice visit and plan on doing it again soon after she returns from her trip to Germany. She left today for 3 weeks as part of the German exchange program. We wish her Godspeed and hope she has a wonderful trip!!

I Can't Believe He Ate the Whole Thing!!

He threatened to do it once before, but never did! He did it tonite, however! This is how the menu describes the burger:

UNCLE JOE’S TEX-MEX-FIESTA BURGER!!!* (for those who dare)
This monster is all three burgers under one bun and a grilled jumbo hot dog, not for the faint of heart (or stomach). If you can consume this
beast, you will receive an original RiverWalck Saloon T -shirt and a Polaroid of your conquest on the RiverWalck Wall of Fame. For those who
can’t get it down, well, you receive a bottle of Pepto and a special spot in the bucket of shame!!!!
$25.25 (one-time deal with T -shirt)

He had to eat the entire burger AND all the fries....and believe me, they didn't skimp on the fries!

He wasn't smiling so much at the end :)

He was just teasing :)
(although I believe he's currently in the bathroom...LOL!!)

Contemporary Worship Team

It's kinda dark, but this is the group of people that sing at our contemporary worship service on a Sunday morning. They sang one song at our traditional service this past Sunday. It was Pentecost and 7 of our young people were being confirmed.

Deliciousness

Parboiled in water with a jar of BBQ sauce on low for 2 hours, then brushed with BBQ sauce and put under broiler. Delicious! They fell off the bones!

Junior Year End Antics

I can not believe that Alyssa is almost done with her junior year at Penn State!! Next year will be an interesting, busy one for her. Her first semester has her doing pre-student teaching, which at this point can be anywhere within 60-70 miles of Penn State (she hasn't been told exactly where she's going yet). She will be going to a school every morning, then returns for classes in the afternoon. Her second semester will be student teaching and she has learned that she will be assigned to the Pittsburgh area; this means she will need to re-locate to that area for her last semester at Penn State. She and Sarah will not be rooming together next year....in fact, they are together for their last couple of days...Sarah is done with her finals on Tuesday...Alyssa has her last one on Thursday evening.

Alyssa will be living with Kristen (fondly known as K-Ten) for the fall semester...they will be sharing a townhouse with two other students that Kristen knows. There are two additional students that live in this townhouse, but are studying abroad for the fall semester, but will be returning for their spring semester. Thus this all works out perfectly....Alyssa and Kristen will rent the space for the fall, then the other girls come back in the spring, while Alyssa is in Pittsburgh and Kristen is doing an internship out of the area.

These pics I borrowed from Kristin's Facebook (not the Kristen that Alyssa will be living with...). She came up for the weekend to hang out with Alyssa and Sarah. On Saturday they went to the year end DiscipleMakers picnic and somewhere along the line ended up in the toy aisle at Walmart...LOL!!!

Big Apple

Adam took this fantastic pic yesterday while he was in New York City...I'm guessing he was on top of the Empire State Building. I'm also trying out posting pics using my new computer. :)

Our New Church Sign....

SAYS IT ALL!!!

Our life at Emmanuel's changed in almost an instant in the last two months. Within that time period, Pastor Barry went from not feeling well, to being admitted to a Philadelphia hospital, to having his liver shut down, to being placed on top of the waiting list for a liver transplant. On Thursday, he was fortunate enough to receive a cadaveric liver transplant. The surgery went well, his new liver is 'healthy and beautiful'....he now begins the long, long recuperation process. If you are so inclined, any prayers would be appreciated that he would have an uncomplicated recovery with no infection and no rejection. In addition, he is in acute renal failure and requiring dialysis....please pray that his kidneys would recover that he can come off dialysis. Finally, pray for Pastor Elizabeth, their sons Kurt and Eric and our church family at Emmanuel's.
